Meet Max – Head Coach at MaxWellness Cafe
With over a decade of British competitive gymnastics experience and years of coaching, Max brings a rare combination to personal training in NW5:
Gymnast-level body control
Structural strength development
Mobility rooted in yoga
Calisthenics precision
Real-world injury awareness
The outcome is simple: strong joints, controlled movement, and a body that lasts.
What You Can Expect
1. Foundational Strength – Built Properly
Strength without control creates imbalance.
Mobility without strength creates instability.
Training focuses on:
Balanced head-to-toe development
Joint integrity
Scapular control
Hip stability
Progressive bodyweight mastery
This builds a durable foundation rather than temporary aesthetics.
2. Weight Loss That Actually Holds
Living in London makes consistency hard. Long workdays. Travel. Social eating.
Instead of extreme dieting:
We build metabolic strength
Increase lean muscle
Improve movement efficiency
Establish sustainable nutrition habits
The goal is not rapid loss. It is maintainable body composition.
3. Mobility & Flexibility for Modern Life
Desk posture and commuting shorten the body.
Sessions include:
Structured mobility flows
Active flexibility
Controlled end-range strength
Nervous system regulation
You move better. You recover faster. You age slower.
4. Functional Movement & Injury Prevention
Training mimics life, not machines.
Expect:
Single-leg strength
Rotational stability
Core integration
Balance and coordination drills
This reduces common shoulder, hip and lower-back issues seen in high-stress professionals.
5. Gymnastics-Style Core Development
Forget endless crunches.
Core training includes:
Hollow body progressions
Hanging variations
Anti-rotation work
Static strength holds
This improves posture, spinal support and athletic capability.

If you are ready to train with discipline and intention:
This gym has everything I need for a complete workout. The equipment is modern, well-maintained and includes a variety of machines and free weights for strength training. The cardio section has plenty of treadmills, bikes and ellipticals all with personal screens and tracking features. Trainers are knowledgeable, approachable and always ready to offer guidance or create personalized workout plans. The studio classes like yoga and HIIT, are fun, energetic and well-instructed. The facilities are clean and spacious including locker rooms and showers. The atmosphere is motivating and welcoming, making it easy to stick to a fitness routine. Overall, it’s a gym that encourages both progress and consistency.
I’ve never used a PT before, so was a new experience but Maxwellness PT has gone above and beyond any of my expectations.
Max and his team are really decent, humble experts who really care and go the extra mile to support you.
In 2 months I have already seen big improvements in my fitness and I’m really looking forward to continue working with them, could not recommend them highly enough.
I’ve been training with Max and can honestly say he’s a brilliant PT. He’s supportive, conscientious, and always considers both mind and body in his approach. He knows how to push you to your limits while keeping it motivating and achievable. The atmosphere is really inclusive and approachable, with great equipment and a mindful vibe throughout. Having access to the ice bath and sauna is such a bonus too—it adds so much to recovery and overall well-being. Highly recommend!
I started a fairly intensive 3x weekly programme with Max just a couple of months ago, and I'm already seeing improvements in my flexibility and strength and my t-shirts seem to be getting smaller. Every session is tough but fair, let's see where it takes us! I'm in for the long haul.
I’m so happy I found Maxwellness Personal Training! I never thought I would look forward to working out as much as I do now. Max and Archie make every session super fun, motivating, and completely different to anything I’ve done before. The whole place has such a welcoming and friendly vibe. If you’re looking for personal training in London, you honestly won’t find a better place!
I’ve been working with Maxwell for a few months and it’s been brilliant. He really pushes me and so I get massive benefit from every session. I also have quite a few long standing injuries and he’s understood that and adjusted the sessions to fit around them. When Maxwell’s not free I’ve been trained by Minnie and Archie who have also been excellent. I highly recommend them.
As a 51 year old you don’t really expect to get a passion for exercising ignited, but that’s what has happened. After 3 months working out with Maxwell, I’m the fittest and leanest I’ve ever been. Maxwell has an infectious positive energy and outlook as well as a way of keeping each session fresh and interesting. He’s an authentic, generous, good human and I can only thank him for changing this grumpy old woman’s life for the better! Oh and the coffee is fab too.
