Maxwell’s Story: From Gymnastics to Hyrox – Building a Life of Strength, Discipline and Progress

Hi, I’m Maxwell Robertson – founder of MaxWellness Cafe, personal trainer, and someone who’s spent most of his life learning what it means to push limits – physically, mentally, and emotionally.

But before all that, I was a gymnast.

✨ The Early Days: Growing Up Gymnast

I started training as a gymnast when I was young, and it quickly became my world. Gymnastics taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of perfecting the smallest details. Over the years, I competed at the English, Scottish, and British Championships, representing not just my club – but the level of commitment I had to being my best.

Those early years shaped how I approach everything today – my training, my mindset, and how I coach others. Gymnastics showed me that true progress isn’t about big wins. It’s about the thousands of reps, the daily grind, and the quiet confidence that comes from showing up even when it’s hard.

🚀 Evolving the Athlete: From Competitive Gymnastics to Coaching

As I got older, I knew I wanted to help others unlock their own potential. That meant becoming a coach who could guide people to move better, build strength, and achieve goals they might not have believed possible.

MaxWellness Cafe was born from that mission.

It’s more than a gym. It’s a place where people train with purpose, fuel their bodies with good food, and find a community that supports them.

📈 My Training Now: Hyrox, Marathons, and the Joy of the Grind

I still train hard. These days, I’m focused on Hyrox competitions, marathons, and functional strength. I know what it feels like to be deep in the middle of a tough race or a hard training block – and I bring that experience into every client session.

Whether I’m coaching someone for their first 5K or helping them prep for a Hyrox event, I draw from decades of training. My job is to challenge you, support you, and guide you toward real, lasting results.

💪 Why I Coach

Coaching, for me, is personal. It’s not about yelling or ego. It’s about watching people discover that they’re capable of more than they thought. It’s seeing someone who didn’t believe in themselves finish a workout they never thought possible. It’s building people up one rep, one session, one mindset shift at a time.
